The
DESMA 968.T series of machines uses a vertical downward acting clamp and
a side mounted injection unit feeding the mold on the parting line. It
is also well suited for double deck production using a centrally mounted
cold runner block. Some of the many advantages of this machine include
an easily accessible feeding zone for rubber compound, easy access to
the injection unit for maintenance and a very low working height.
The 968 T machines are built in five standard sizes ranging from 250 metric tons to 1000 metric tons. Injection units
are available in sizes from 350 cm to 30,000cm.

Many vertical
machines are made similar to this concept (lateral injection and
clamping system from top).
The advantages of this series include the possibilities to combine
relatively large injection volumes with even smaller clamping forces
and the optimum accessibility of machine components to refill e. g.
silicone stuffing devices, strip feeding etc.
This series offers further advantages for the production of articles
which are hanging from the mould carrier area, as only the upper
mould carrier plate is moved to build-up clamping pressure.
Examples of application are the production of large-volume
insulators made of HTV.
Due to lateral injection, the distribution in two decks via a
centrally arranged cold runner block is feasible.
