DESMA Built Cold Runners - FlowControl

The patent pending FlowControl cold runner system developed by DESMA demonstrates state-of-the-art technology and maximum flexibility. We are particularly glad of having won the DKG Product Award 2006 in the category machines and equipment for this technology already launched! 

The FlowControl cold runner block (CRB) system developed by DESMA utilizes a patent pending shut-off nozzle system. With zero waste, direct injection technology being used in more and more CRB applications, interest in the FlowControl design is at an all time high. In zero waste molding (valve gating), special attention is not only given to fully avoiding runner waste, but to nozzle balancing. Every nozzle in the FlowControl system is fitted with a separate hydraulic cylinder and actuates the closing from outside the compound flow stream. The FlowControl CRB is balanced right from the operator panel! No high  pressure sealing is required compared to a conventional valve gated CRB.
      Another major advantage of the FlowControl concept is that only a slight pressure drop occurs compared to conventional valve-gated CRBs using a needle shut-off system. This new shut-off technique along with hydraulically controlled actuation is ideal for the injection of high-viscosity elastomers, when high injection pressures are required. 

The FlowControl technique is available on all DESMA machines equipped with the  appropriate hardware and associated software screen pages. The shut-off parameters for each nozzle can be entered at the machine control unit either via the current volume injected (piston position) or a time-controlled setting. CRB volume balancing is optimized at the machine control and the storage of the balancing parameters is kept with the mold recipe. After a mold change, the correct nozzle balancing is automatically active when loading the respective data record.
