DESMA Control Retrofits 

As an additional service, DESMA also offers a retrofit and rebuild service that can restore the appearance and functionality of your existing machine to an improved condition. Hydraulics systems can be rebuilt, machines can be repainted and cleaned, and control systems can be updated with newer components. The Control Retrofit is a new control system for your DESMA rubber injection molding machines.  The control system packages that are offered for our machines are as follows.

 962 Machine Series Control Retrofit | Brochure

For all customers with a 962 model DESMA machine, there is a retrofit kit available at a very reasonable price that will upgrade your controller and all working components to a much more modern system.  A newer control system will result in a more stable system with advanced diagnostics and convenient access to control spare parts that have otherwise become obsolete. This retrofit is recommended by DESMA for all 962 model machines with US control systems.

• Retrofit replaces the Honeywell IPC 90, Texas Instruments 5 TI, and the TCAM systems.
• Replaces PLC and associated I/O cards with DirectLogic 205 series components.
• Output relays are solid state type; the old relays are replaced.
• Temperature control is handled by the PLC for increased reliability and consistency.
• Operator interface is a color touchscreen.
• DC power supply is replaced with a modern Siemens SITOP unit.

 966 Machine Series Control Retrofit | Brochure

For all customers with a 966 model DESMA machine, there is a retrofit kit available at a very reasonable price that will upgrade your controller and all working components to a much more modern system.  A newer control system will result in a more stable system with advanced diagnostics and convenient access to control spare parts that have otherwise become obsolete. This retrofit is recommended by DESMA for all 966 model machines with US control systems.

• Retrofit replaces the TI 500 PLC system on the MMC, SPC (Nematron), and Thumbwheel machines.
• Replaces PLC and associated I/O cards are DirectLogic 205 series components.
• Output relays are solid state type; the old relays are replaced.
• Temperature control is handled by the PLC for increased reliability and consistency.
• Complete recipe functionality that is capable of handling hundreds of recipes.
• Recipes may be backed up to a floppy disk.
• Injection trending is plotted in real time.
• Operator interface computer features a color touchscreen, Windows NT, and Citect.
• Diagnostic pages for easy identification of problems.
• PLC programming software may be run directly on the operator interface computer.
• Computer includes a modem running pcAnywhere for remote technical support.
• All power supplies are replaced with modern technology.

968 Machine Series Computer Retrofit | Brochure

For all customers with a 968/969 model DESMA machine with a Trendsetter 2000, there is a retrofit kit available at a very reasonable price that will upgrade your operator interface computer to a much more modern system.  A newer computer system will result in a more stable system with improved diagnostics and easier access to control spare parts that have otherwise become obsolete. This retrofit is recommended by DESMA for all machines with a TS 2000 computer.

• Components have been designed and extensively tested by Advantech, a global leader in industrial automation products.
• The embedded low power Pentium 266 MHz processor is fanless.
• The 512 MB Ultra CompactFlash primary drive is a solid-state chip with a MTBF of greater than 1,000,000 hours.
• The memory chip is type SDRAM 128 MB.
• The system is designed to operate in ambient temperatures up to 140° F (60° C).

PC32C or PC32F Computer Retrofit | Brochure

For all customers with a 968/969 model DESMA machine with a PC32C or PC32F computer, there is a retrofit kit available at a very reasonable price that will upgrade your computer to a more modern system.  A newer computer will result in a more stable system with easier access to computer spare parts that have otherwise become obsolete. This retrofit is recommended by DESMA for all machines with a PC32 model computer.  

• Retrofit replaces either the PC32C or the PC32F found on 968/969 machines.
• Components have been designed and extensively tested by Advantech, a global leader in industrial automation products.
• The embedded low power Pentium 266 MHz processor is fanless.
